PowerShift: Young and Rising

(from the PowerShift website; student submission)

From February 14-18, 2019, in Ottawa, on the land of the Algonquin Anishinabe, PowerShift: Young and Rising will convene hundreds of young people from across this land to build a powerful and intersectional youth climate justice movement.

The convergence will feature diverse workshops, keynote speakers, skills-building sessions, panel discussions, engaging performances, and opportunities for exploring artistic, strategic, and/or political means to counter climate change and climate injustice. Perhaps most importantly, the convergence will offer opportunities to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds who are committed to reimagining our current context and building a collective climate justice movement, together.

Your registration will grant you access to all events, performances, and workshops over the four-day convergence.

Fees

In order to help cover the costs of the convergence, we ask participants for a $70 registration fee.

We are committed to ensuring that this convergence facilitates the participation of frontline land and water defenders and communities of colour fighting for a livable future. Our Frontline Fund will subsidize the travel of young people who face geographic, economic, or other hurdles to participation. Please contact us if the registration fee or travel costs present a barrier to your participation in the convergence.
