STUDENTS

Student Technology Survey

Barrie North Staff would like to learn more about students and their use of technology. It would be greatly appreciated if students could complete THIS 5 minute survey. By taking the time to share your ideas, you can help teachers better understand students’ perspectives on technology and its use in the classroom.

AHME
After Hours Math and English help continues to be available in the Library afters school from 2:50pm to 3:50pm. Support is provided for ALL subjects. There are also computers available for assignment completion.

House of Commons Page Program

If you are graduating from Grade 12 this year, can speak both English and French, have ‘”superior interpersonal skills and good judgement” and are planning on attending full-time post-secondary studies in Ottawa in September, consider applying for the Page Program with the House of Commons on Parliament Hill.

Full Disclosure Date

If you are considering dropping one of your current Semester 1 courses, please do so as soon as possible. November 24th, next Monday, is the date that the Full Disclosure Policy is implemented. A first semester course must be dropped by this date or the student’s mark in that course at the time of the drop is permanently recorded on the student’s transcript.

University Applications

A reminder to all graduating students that applications to university are due on January 14, 2014 and applications to college are due on February 1, 2015. If you require assistance with program planning, please see your SERT (if you have an IEP) or a Guidance counsellor as soon as possible.

Navigating Special Education Workshop

Date​: Wednesday, November 26

​Description: This workshop will increase understanding of Special Education in the SCDSB to support parents in taking an active and informed role in their child’s education.

Workshops for Parents/Educators of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Self Regulation – Developing self-monitoring skills and strategies
Date​: Thursday, ​December 4 and Thursday, March 5
​Time: ​4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
​Location: SCDSB ​Education Centre (1170 Highway 26, Midhurst)
​Description: This session focuses on how to teach individuals to identify triggers of anxiety and use appropriate alternative strategies to copy with difficult situations.
